We are looking for someone who communicates well, loves serving great food to a wide variety of customers, and can manage a staff of about 12 people. Successful applicants will start at $11/hr and we offer bonuses and raises for good performance. You will have a full time position with opportunity for some overtime, but rarely will you work over 45 hours per week. The owners are very fair and honest. We appreciate optimism and a healthy balance of humility and confidence. The current opening is for evening shift which is 230pm-1130pm. Direct food preparation; maintain sanitation standards; establish customer rapport; manage customer complaints; train and monitor staff; communicate with management;

Duties:

* Maintains safe, secure, and healthy environment

* Meets restaurant operational standards by implementing productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; recommending system improvements.

* Builds customer rapport by establishing relationships with regular customers; greeting customers; interceding in misunderstandings and differences between wait staff and customers; resolving complaints.

* Recommends menus by listening to customer suggestions.

* Controls costs by minimizing waste.

Key responsibilities and qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • The primary purpose of this position is to provide daily leadership and supervision to the Transportation Team in order to ensure timely and accurate deliveries, safe working conditions and a work environment that is consistent with Peapod’s values and mission.
  • Organize, plan, and optimize daily routes for all drivers.  This includes labor management (capacity vs. number of drivers), scheduling (start times, PTO approval, etc.), problem resolution and decision-making.
  • Review transportation -related metrics daily. Provide recommendations on coaching and training in an effort to maximize driver performance.
  • Effectively troubleshoot any and all delivery issues to ensure timely and responsive problem resolution.
  • Respond to employee concerns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide direction, feedback, and support to team-members which foster service excellence and personal growth.
  • Monitor the timely loading and dispatching of vehicles from the staging docks based on multiple priorities and various vehicle waves.
  • Responsible for accident, damage, and injury reports and investigations, and ensuring that all issues are followed up on within a timely and prompt manner.
  • Work cooperatively with DSC, Fulfillment, Customer Service, Customer Acquisition, Inbound, Human Resources and Merchandising.  Facilitate transitional organization between multiple shift operations.
  • Provide leadership  to the fulfillment team and clerical team to include team-building, positive recognition, coaching, and feedback.
  • Conduct new hire training and follow-up.
  • Interview driver applicants.
  • Practices food safety in all aspects of position.
  • Occasionally answer phone calls from drivers during their routes.
  • Deliver routes or swap out trucks in emergency situations.
  • Majority of work takes place in office. May occasionally need to work on the dock or deliver a route.
  • Physical requirements while in office are limited. While on the dock or on a route, employee must be able to lift and carry totes of groceries up to 50 lbs. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal skills, analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills required.
  • DOT Certified, clean driving record, valid driver’s license; safely operate a CMV.
  • Some skills needed are supervisory, leadership, coaching, training, teambuilding, customer service.
  • Additonal skills needed are two years of transportation or logistics related experience and two years of college or equivalent experience.

Key responsibilities and qualifications include, but are not limited to:

  • The primary purpose of this position is to provide maintenance and service to Peapod trucks, as well as maintaining the physical condition of the crossdock facility in Chicago Ridge.
  • Initiate timely repairs as needed and required.
  • Must be able to analyze and evaluate needs. General working knowledge of automotive mechanics, building construction including plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry.
  • Evaluate daily equipment needs to maintain current service levels to customers and safety to drivers.
  • Review and evaluate Vehicle Condition Reports.
  • Road test vehicle to investigate driver complaints.
  • Provide timely filing of vehicle condition reports to vehicle files.
  • Follow up evaluation with service provider to determine action plan and timeline for repairs.
  • Provide weekly and monthly odometer readings on all delivery equipment.
  • Assist drivers with loading and make deliveries when needed.
  • Evaluate and monitor building materials and supplies for reorder and timely repairs.
  • Provide ongoing building inspection to maintain all safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Provide “on route” service to vehicles in a timely manner.
  • Perform routine maintenance to vehicles, including headlights, electrical and cargo.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping (sweeping, scrubbing, mopping, shoveling, light carpentry, etc).
  • Maintains outside of property as needed, including dock area and vehicle area.
  • Clean driving record, valid drivers license and ability to drive our trucks safely so as to avoid product damage and vehicular accidents.
  • Availability to work on weekends.
  • Flexibility and cooperation in work assignments.
  • High energy, stamina, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent dependability and attendance.
  • NO special license required!!
  • Ability to pass a DOT Physical, DOT Drug Test, Criminal Background Check and Social Security Verification.

 

Pay rate: $12.80 an hour
