Monday, July 16 | Health Insurance Options in Chicago
6 pm | Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington, 5th Floor Cultural workers—artists, musicians, actors, and especially dancers—are among the least insured demographics in the country. The Actors Fund wants to change that. Attend this Creatives at Work Forum that will cover getting and keeping health insurance for individual artists and their families, as well as the new small business tax credits that are available to arts companies and organizations that want to offer health insurance to their staff members and artists. The forum will have two parts:
  • A workshop for individuals on getting and keeping health insurance in the Chicago area, during which we will review private and government-subsidized coverage options as well as access to quality care for the uninsured.
  • A presentation on small business health insurance and the subsidy available in the health care reform law for businesses with 25 or fewer full-time employees.
About The Actors Fund: A nationwide human services organization that helps all professionals in performing arts and entertainment, The Actors Fund has recently developed programs to assist the dance communities in ten cities in getting health insurance for their members. In addition to conducting these meetings, The Actors Fund has created the Dancers Health Insurance Resource Center, featuring hundreds of resources for dancers and other artists who are looking for health insurance and health care.
